Unfamiliar English Word of the Day

This post is supposedly for yesterday.

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, our English instructor requires us to watch news or TV show and/or read news papers, books, etc. and find an unfamiliar English word everyday. Then after that, we have to find the meaning of the word and then we'll use it in our own sentence. The unfamiliar word I found yesterday was:

im·ped·i·ment

meaning:
1.obstruction; hindrance; obstacle.
2.any physical defect that impedes normal or easy speech; a speech disorder.

my own sentence:
Her speech impediment is stopping her from being a successful news reporter.
